OUR HISTORY
TR cyclotrons were created by TRIUMF (TRI-University Meson Facility), Canada's National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics. In the 1960's TRIUMF designed the world's largest cyclotron, a 500 MeV accelerator, to research subatomic particles. Scientists required a sophisticated manufacturer to build a state-of-the-art vacuum system for their breakthrough technology. They contracted Ebco Industries Ltd., one of Canada's largest custom manufacturing facilities, to build this vital part of the worlds largest cyclotron.
Experimentation continued at TRIUMF and in the early 1980's a 30 MeV cyclotron was designed and Ebco Industries contracted to build it. Shortly after, a technological transfer agreement was struck between the two parties, and Ebco Industries Ltd. began to commercialize the scientific and technological advances of the TRIUMF cyclotrons, and the TR cyclotrons were born.
Today, Advanced Cyclotron Systems continues to build on this expertise, producing the highest performing commercial cyclotron in the world. Advanced Cyclotron Systems is part of the Ebco Group of Companies, setting industry standards for nearly 50 years.
