ACSI Supplies TR-19 Cyclotron to Ochsner Health System

(Richmond, BC) – Advanced Cyclotron Systems, Inc. (ACSI) is pleased to announce that it’s agreed to supply a 300µA TR-19 to Ochsner Health System, Louisiana’s only hospital recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a “Best Hospital” across six specialty categories. The new cyclotron will be installed and commissioned at Ochsner Medical Center located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Ochsner Medical Center is an internationally-known hospital specializing in high quality care over a wide range of disciplines for the local, national and international community.  The new 300µA TR-19 will provide Ochsner Medical Center with the ability to produce a wide range of radionuclides that can be used for a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures.

“ACSI is proud to be partnering with such a respected institution and believes that the addition of the TR-19 to the Ochsner Medical Center will satisfy the hospital’s immediate and long-term radionuclide requirements,” said Alexander Zyuzin, ACSI’s Director of Research and Business Development.

“We researched numerous cyclotrons and thought the TR-19 was essential in meeting our needs,” said Robert Bober, MD, Director of Molecular Imaging and Nuclear Cardiology, Ochsner Health System. “The installation of the ACSI cyclotron will be a tremendous step forward for our ability to provide lifesaving tests to patients throughout our system in a much more efficient and cost effective way. It will significantly improve our research capabilities and allow us to conduct clinical studies that we are currently unable to perform. As a regional and national healthcare destination, we see patients from every state in the United States and over 90 countries throughout the world. This is a great opportunity for our patients and this community, and it will directly improve our ability to save lives.”

The TR-19 is a variable energy (14-19 MeV), automated and upgradeable cyclotron with an external ion source. Designed with high production capability, the TR-19 not only serves current demanding radioisotope production needs, but also ensures sufficient capacity for future growth. Delivery and installation are scheduled for the end of 2015.
